Applying to Film Festivals – The IP Section Unscripted

When things didn’t work out looking for an agent, Wes decided to submit “The IP Section” and “My Dream’s A Joke” to a couple film festivals to see what would happen. Both shows were accepted by the first festival they were submitted to, iTVFest. Although they didn’t win any awards, they were so well received by the audience it seemed like a good idea to submit the shows to a bunch of other film festivals and see if anything came of it. Here Wes and Jessica (a producer) take you through the ups and downs of applying to all the festivals including the following:

  • iTVFest
  • NYTV Festival
  • Seattle Film Festival
  • Cinequest
  • SXSW
  • Tribeca Film Festival
  • Aspen Shorts Fest
  • SF Indie Fest
  • NexTV
  • Palm Springs International Shorts Fest
  • Slamdance
  • Ann Arbor Film Festival
  • SeriesFest

There was a lot of anticipation, only to have one show accepted at one other festival, My Dream’s A Joke screened at SF Indie Fest. Three out of 26 isn’t bad, right?
